Get to Know the Mistobox Team

Coffee Pro/Coffee Hiding Pro

At Mistobox, we’re all about celebrating the joy of good coffee. We believe every cup should be savored, and our mission is to bring you the best coffee experience possible, right to your doorstep. We’re a remote crew spread out across the western half of the U.S. (and Costa Rica), so our in-person hangouts are rare, but we make it work with some good ol’ Zoom catch-ups.

In this post, we’re super excited to introduce you to the incredible team that makes Mistobox tick. From perfecting roasts to delivering stellar customer service, everyone here plays a vital role in ensuring every sip you take is exceptional. Ready to meet the team? Let’s dive in!

Tyler, Director of Coffee
based in San Diego, CA

What inspired you to work in the coffee industry?
I fell into the industry while living in Seattle and then fell in love with it.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time outside of work?
You can find me by/in the water – an ocean, river, lake, or a puddle.

What is one coffee myth you wish people would stop believing?
The correlation between roast level (light, medium, dark) and caffeine content. The roast won’t really determine whether a coffee has more or less caffeine (at any noticeable level). Caffeine has more to do with the coffee plant and seed.

If you could travel to any coffee-producing region or farm, where would you go and why?
I’d love to hop around Costa Rica, check out some farms, the surf, the rainforest, connect with our developer, Fabian, and take out his ATVs.

What are you drinking this week?
A fresh lineup of Tandem coffees, including a vibrant washed offering from the Agaro region of Ethiopia.
Ethiopia Kolla Bolcha | Tandem Coffee Roasters

Alyssa, Graphic Designer
based in Salt Lake City, UT

What inspired you to work in the coffee industry?
I love the variety of branding and design that you see with all the different roasters. I also think it’s cool to see if you can pick up the different tasting notes and see if coffee really can taste like graham crackers or berries or wildflowers. It’s pretty cool.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time outside of work?
Outside of work, I go on a lot of walks and spend a lot of time outside by the river or in the mountains. I also enjoy cooking, learning new things, and anything I can do that is creative or expressive.

What is one coffee myth you wish people would stop believing?
That supermarket coffee is fresh.

If you could travel to any coffee-producing region or farm, where would you go and why?
Costa Rica. I would like to see the variety of farms and learn more about the process and coffee plant!

Bailey, Mistobox Director of CX
based in San Diego, CA

What inspired you to work in the coffee industry?
From landing my first job as a barista at 16 to learning about coffee farming and agriculture through college, I fell in love with the work ethic, stories of farmers, and what goes into that morning cup of coffee so many take for granted!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time outside of work?
I’m happiest spending quality time with my husband and our three dogs. We love getting outdoors, whether it’s heading to the beach, exploring the mountains, or simply relaxing in our yard. I also love a good yoga session, anywhere with live music and discovering new eateries around town.

What is one coffee myth you wish people would stop believing?
Espresso Blends can only be brewed in espresso machines (and vice versa- single origins and blends can’t be brewed in an espresso machine).  I love brewing single origins such as espresso; they’re typically more acidic and pack a punch.
